5 Movies To Get You Through Divorce

It’s the weekend and the reality of divorce can no longer be muted with the distractions of the work week.  The relaxing downtime that couldn’t get here quick enough before is now dreaded.  We know how you feel; so to keep your mind occupied we put together a list of our favorite divorce movies. It’s time to put on those old sweatpants and grab some popcorn, (or a pint of the rocky road if you want to be cliché).

First Wives Club – This 22-year-old classic comedy stars some of your favorite actresses. Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton get revenge on their ex-husbands after divorcing them for younger women.  Available for free with an Epix subscription*

Mrs. Doubtfire – The late Robin Williams and Sally Field star in this comedy about a father who will go to great lengths to spend time with his children, including masquerading as a nanny. Available on Starz with subscription.*

It’s Complicated – How can you not love a movie featuring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alex Baldwin in a love triangle? While it is a comedy, it also does a fairly good job of detailing the intricacies of dating after divorce.  Rent it on Amazon for $2.99*

The Break Up – Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughn clash in this 2006 relationship comedy that both men and women will be able to appreciate. It also tackles the very real topic of dividing marital assets.  Rent it on Vudu for $2.99*

Divorce – OK, this one isn’t a movie but is going to provide you with hours of binge-worthy entertainment. This Golden Globe-nominated show tackles a myriad of divorce issues with surprising accuracy.  Watch it for free on HBO (subscription required).*
